Sorry for the lack of updates! I've been very busy with a Barbie related project. I'll report on that very soon! I'll likely go back and fill in for missing days. Barbie Collector recently announced a new Model Muse storybook character doll, "Little Red." An eagle eye member of the Barbie Collector forum spotted the doll on the Amazon Japan website and a few days later the doll was posted in the sneaks. Naturally, there is mixed reaction to this doll because of the larger head and the somewhat risque outfit. For the collector who likes a little whimsy or just likes the Model Muse body sculpt, this doll is a must have! Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf is due in September. She will be a Silver Label doll and a Toys R Us exclusive.
Here is a recent addition to my ever-growing Steffie collection. Miss India has such a sweet face! I'm still not sure if I should de-box her or not.
the alice face mold looks strange to me, I cant tell what is wrong with it, things on this face are just out of proportion. The chin, the forehead... everything on this face doesnt quite coordinate with each other. This riding hood, her facial expression makes me think she is undernutrition, she looks very hungry, she can eat not only the wolf but also a bull as well.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you are saying. Hopefully the actual produced doll will be improved. I guess with the skinny model muse body the proportions are just off. Cute but a little creepy I suppose!
ReplyDeleteDear Sandra,
ReplyDeletebest wishes for your new projects and congrats on the lovely Indian Steffie, she's soooo stunning :D

I think it's just totally wicked how it comes with a little wolf char. Is this the first case of a doll being created in Japan and then being marketed all over the world by Toys R Us?
ReplyDeleteThe stocking style seems to be 'EGL', I personally like it, risque or not. I think it shows a neat twist on the tale since generally the wolf is the dominant figure, in this case Red is, and the 'Little' is ironic.
Even if the canine's smaller, they can still be an enjoyable pair together, and even small dogs can be aggressive.
Little miss India looks pretty cute, I like the big eyelashes and stuff. I had to think for a second to realize it wasn't Red since her shawl is red, but actually I had to click on the link to see. Both images saved to comp, this is one neat blog, thanks for bringing these dolls to attention.
