Spotlight: Antarctica - The Queen of the South Pole

I am very pleased to bring you the breathtaking Antarctica Doll, The Queen of the South Pole designed by The Black Swan Doll Company.

You may remember my news report on The Black Swan Company from a few months ago.  I've been eagerly watching the rise of The Black Swan Doll Company in the past couple of months and their creations never cease to amaze.  Please take a few minutes to view the video featuring Antarctica.

Antarctica is a tribute to the acclaimed designer Bob Mackie and the beautiful Barbie Fantasy Goddess of the Arctic.  The designers at the Black Swan Doll Company's Antarctica is a "sister" doll.  She is the Queen of the South Pole.

I hope you enjoy Antarctica!  Here are some pics of this beautiful creation! Click to view!

Barbie goes Bollywood with the Katrina Kaif Barbie Doll

Posted by thedollcafe at Friday, August 26, 2011 2 comments

I have heard a lot about Katrina Kaif and her upcoming Barbie doll but I don't know much more about Katrina apart from the fact that she is an actress born in England who became a big Bollywood star!  I remember reading about the doll last fall and there were even prototype pictures available.  As you can see from the pics, the prototype is wearing an outfit similar to an outfit that Katrina Kaif modeled for Barbie's 50th Anniversary.  The doll was also a Model Muse doll.  It looks like Katrina Barbie went through some changes for the final product.  Now you can own her Barbie doll from the I Can Be series.  Barbie I Can Be a Movie Star, Katrina Kaif features the Barbie I Can Be a Movie Star packaging that is similar to the US Version.  Katrina Barbie also holds a female gold "Oscar" in her hand.  I was able to obtain one of these dolls from a friend in India.  I will post some pictures in my next blog post.

Model Muse Dolls In Your Future!

Posted by thedollcafe at Saturday, August 23, 2008 3 comments
Mattel has finally released a picture of the Hard Rock Cafe doll announced earlier this year. She will be available in the fall at the bc.com shop and at the Hard Rock Cafe stores and online shops. She is a gold label doll (produced in amounts limited to 25,000). She will retail for about $75.00. You can see a small picture here. HRC features the Mackie head mold, very pale skin and gothic style make-up. Her hair is platinum blonde with jet black bangs and streaks in a high ponytail. Her jewelry is silver-toned and and gold toned with gem-like accents. Her dress features spaghetti straps and is a Lolita style in black and a tartan plaid print. Her look is completed by red fishnets, black stiletto heeled-boots and matching plaid and black fingerless gloves. She also comes with a guitar. She is pretty racy for Mattel and I applaud them for stepping out and creating a doll that mirrors "hard rock." This doll was designed by Sharon Zuckerman.

2009 will see the release of the American Favorites Collection. One of the dolls in this collection is the Hershey Barbie. She is a model muse doll with the Lara/Drew face mold. Her make-up is vivid and smokey to go with the Chocolate theme. She has beautiful long brunette hair and a dress with silver and brown designs. Her belt reads "Hershey's" in the company logo. The dress has a bell shape to simulate a Hershey's chocolate kiss. She is very cute and will be released in 2009. Hopefully we'll see some sneaks of the actual doll at the Mattel Toy Fair. She is the creation of designer Linda Kyaw. Both of these girls are on my list!

And The Beat Goes On . . .

The corporation, let's call them Em! Well Em is still giving me some trouble. Things are not as smoothed out as I had hoped. It's a lawyer thing and a money thing! I wish that Em would realize what a great promotional vehicle they had. Oh well.

The Doll Cafe is becoming a very warm and inviting place. As we ready for the grand opening many people are working hard behind the scenes. Yours truly was trying to figure how to work on blogger (it's my first blog here) and found an amazing blog about an American living in Spain and working as an English teacher for the last seven years. Wow, I spent hours there!

Anyhow, reading that blog took me back to the times I travelled there. In honor of the wonderful time I spent in Spain I share with you my beautiful Spain Doll of the World. She looks quite different now but here she is in all her original glory. Viva Espana!

You Never Know!

Posted by thedollcafe at Monday, March 03, 2008 5 comments
It's hard to know why things happen. I am here now because of a change, a momentous change! A major corporation took note of something I created online! Wow, I should be so proud! At first, I was shocked, horrified, angry! But then I realized, they are right. It's ok! I have a new opportunity for something bigger and better! That is how I arrived here! Through the help of internent savvy friends, graphic artists, and doll fans, I am back here.

I spent some time taking pictures last night. . . This is Lone Star Great the Barbie doll offered to club members who joined the 2005 Barbie Fan Club. She sat in her box quietly for almost three years. This weekend she was released, rebodied (with Top Model Hair Wear Teresa's body) and given fresh new Randall Craig clothes to wear. She looks rather pleased!
